New Zealand's official presence from June to November 2009 at the Venice Biennale, the world's oldest and most prestigious international forum for contemporary visual art, comprises two exhibitions by Judy Millar and Francis Upritchard.

The 2009 event marks the fourth time that Creative New Zealand has hosted a New Zealand presence at the Venice Biennale.

Judy Millar is working with curator Leonhard Emmerling, director of the St Paul Street Gallery in Auckland.

Francis Upritchard is working with curators Heather Galbraith, curator at City Gallery Wellington and Francesco Manacorda, curator at the Barbican Art Gallery in London.

Jenny Harper is the New Zealand Commissioner for the Venice Biennale in 2009. Her role is to be an ambassador for the exhibitions. Heads of Patrons for the New Zealand presence at the Venice Biennale in 2009 are Jenny Gibbs and Dayle Mace.
